Yes! Sports Systems will be providing chip timing this year. In order to give runners an accurate race time we will be using chip-to-chip timing.
Is there a water station on the course?
There will be a water station at approximately halfway. To minimise our impact on the environment we are using compostable cups this year but are also encouraging runners to, where possible, run with your own running bottle.
What is the course like ?
The race is a scenic 5-mile multi-terrain race. It is mostly flat with the start and finish on the athletics track, before proceeding along some local residential streets and then entering the Hogsmill nature reserve. Take care as the route goes along some paths by the Hogsmill river, with possible lumps and tree routes to watch out for and depending on the weather, these paths can be wet and muddy. The route also goes across grass which again depending on the weather, may be wet and slippery. There will be distance markers at every mile.
There will be lots of marshals wearing hi-viz vests out on the course. They are there for your safety, so please listen and obey their instructions. It is not a closed-road race, so the marshals will warn you of traffic. For safety reasons, runners are asked not to run with headphones from personal music devices as you need to be able to hear the marshals give you vital instructions and of course, hear them cheering you on! If you insist on listening to music, you must wear over-the-head headphones; earbuds are not allowed.
Can I wear headphones to listen to music ?
No, UK Athletics rules ban the wearing of headphones in races that are not closed to traffic. They do allow bone conducting earphones where you can still hear the traffic. This is for the safety of runners and other road users and will ensure that you can hear instructions given out by Marshalls.
What if I am unable to run on race day ?
Race entries are non-refundable. If you can’t take part you may be able to transfer your number to a friend, transfers are accepted up until 25 April 2024. Please don’t do this without letting Sports Systems u003ca href=u0022mailto:enquiries@sportsystems.co.uku0022u003eenquiries@sportsystems.co.uku003c/au003e or us u003ca href=u0022mailto:race@epsomallsorts.org.uku0022u003erace@epsomallsorts.org.uku003c/au003e know. Transfers after this date can be done on race day with form completed and brought to the event. For health and safety reasons we will need to know who is taking part, not who we think is taking part! You will be required to complete a transfer form so that the race has a signed declaration for the new runner. There is an administrative fee of £5.
Where can I find my results ?
The results will be posted on our website shortly after the race.
When will the winners be announced ?
