2024 Race Information

.

Our ever-popular annual women-only race is back! With no cut-off time it’s the perfect target for absolute beginners and enjoyed by established runners too. All abilities are welcome to come and give it a go. It has a warm, friendly atmosphere with a very popular cake stall (Allsorts are known for their excellent baking!) raising money for our charity of the year.

The minimum age for the main race is 16.

The race is mostly flat with the start and finish at the Harrier Centre athletics track in West Ewell and explores the picturesque parkland in the Hogsmill Local Nature Reserve including the newly completed wetlands.

There are also children's races over various distances (100m - 400m) on the athletics track before the main event (depending on the number of entrants). Entry to the children's races will be £1 and can be made in person on race day. Children’s races will start at 9.30am.

There is limited parking available at the venue.

Please note that this race does not permit the use of headphones except for bone-conducting headphones permitted by UK Athletics.

We are delighted to have the Epsom and Ewell Food Bank as our charity of the year.

Entries are £20 for UK Athletics affiliated runners and £22 for non-affiliated. The closing date for entries is 12 noon on 26 April 2024.

Where can I leave my bags?

Bags are left at the owner’s risk. We do not offer a secure bag drop, but bags can be left in the main room of the Harrier Centre if you wish. The organisers (Epsom Allsorts Running Club) and the owners of the Harrier Centre premises (Epsom & Ewell Borough Council) cannot accept responsibility for any personal belongings.

Is the race chip timed?

Yes! Sports Systems will be providing chip timing this year. In order to give runners an accurate race time we will be using chip-to-chip timing.

Is there a water station on the course?

There will be a water station at approximately halfway. To minimise our impact on the environment we are using compostable cups this year but are also encouraging runners to, where possible, run with your own running bottle.

What is the course like?

The race is a scenic 5-mile multi-terrain race. It is mostly flat with the start and finish on the athletics track, before proceeding along some local residential streets and then entering the Hogsmill nature reserve. Take care as the route goes along some paths by the Hogsmill river, with possible lumps and tree routes to watch out for and depending on the weather, these paths can be wet and muddy. The route also goes across grass which again depending on the weather, may be wet and slippery. There will be distance markers at every mile.

There will be lots of marshals wearing hi-viz vests out on the course. They are there for your safety, so please listen and obey their instructions. It is not a closed-road race, so the marshals will warn you of traffic. For safety reasons, runners are asked not to run with headphones from personal music devices as you need to be able to hear the marshals give you vital instructions and of course, hear them cheering you on! If you insist on listening to music, you must wear over-the-head headphones; earbuds are not allowed.

Can I wear headphones to listen to music?

No, UK Athletics rules ban the wearing of headphones in races that are not closed to traffic. They do allow bone conducting earphones where you can still hear the traffic. This is for the safety of runners and other road users and will ensure that you can hear instructions given out by Marshalls.

What if I am unable to run on race day?

Race entries are non-refundable. If you can't take part you may be able to transfer your number to a friend, transfers are accepted up until 25 April 2024. Please don’t do this without letting Sports Systems enquiries@sportsystems.co.uk or us race@epsomallsorts.org.uk know. Transfers after this date can be done on race day with form completed and brought to the event. For health and safety reasons we will need to know who is taking part, not who we think is taking part! You will be required to complete a transfer form so that the race has a signed declaration for the new runner. There is an administrative fee of £5.

When will the winners be announced?

We aim to begin announcing the winners within 5-10 minutes of the last person crossing the finish line. This will approximately be around 11.30 am.

What prizes are there?

  • All finishes will receive a medal and race momento!
  • Age category prizes (16-34, 35-44, 45-54, 55-64, 65+)
  • Spot prizes which all entrants will be eligible to win!
  • Mob trophy for the club with the most entrants
  • Medals for finishers of the children's races.

Where can I find my results?

The results will be posted on our website shortly after the race.

What time are the children's races?

The children's races will start at 9.30am over various distances (from 100-400m) on the athletics track before the main event.

The number of races will be dependant on the number of entrants on the day. Please register before 9.20am.

How much does it cost?

Entry to the children's races is £1 and can be made in person on race day with donations going to our charity

of the year.

How is the Mob trophy allocated?

The Club with the most finishers will receive the Mob trophy.

Why has the date moved to April?

As a committee, we've  decided to trial the April date to avoid clashes with other key events and long bank holidays in May. We will

reflect on how this year's race date is received to inform future decisions.

Can I review the race?

Absolutely! Please visit Racecheck to add your constructive feedback.
